Climate Action Through Conservation

Working as a subcontractor to the Nature Conservancy, Tukman Geospatial created a python toolbox in ArcGIS for Desktop that provides a user with the ability to investigate the implications – both on carbon sequestration and suite a number of multibenefits – of various future land use scenarios in Sonoma County.

Tukman Geospatial’s work was part of the Climate Action through Conservation project, which was led by TNC and Sonoma County Ag + Open Space and funded by the San Francisco Foundation and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The project team included Tukman Geospatial, Dogwood Springs Forestry, and others.

Work on this project included the development of a python framework to support modeling of various land use scenarios into the future, as well as report writing to guide the user in running the tool and to explain the results of tool runs used as case studies.
